Pi Network Forces Node Upgrade Deadline Amid Community Frustration

The Pi Network is requiring all Mainnet node operators to complete an upgrade by February 15th. This is part of a planned series of blockchain protocol upgrades, with the first step being completed by the deadline. The project claims that 16 million users have now migrated to its Mainnet.

The announcement was made on X by the Pi Core Team, who also provided an update on the project's node infrastructure. They explained that nodes, which run on laptops and desktop computers rather than mobile devices, represent what they call the 'fourth role' in the Pi Network community.

However, the upgrade announcement did little to quiet persistent frustration within the Pi community. Many users pushed back against what they see as a lack of transparency around the project's second migration phase, questioning when their Pi tokens would finally be moved to the Mainnet.
