Pi Network Sets Final Protocol Update Deadline for September 15
The Pi Network's Core Team has announced that their upcoming protocol update will be implemented on September 15. This marks the last planned upgrade for the project, which began in February with version 19.6. Several subsequent updates followed, including v20.2, which laid the groundwork for smart contract capabilities.
The team admitted to some delays, such as with version 25, which was supposed to be implemented by July 22 but took longer due to its complexity. Despite these setbacks, the update was eventually incorporated, and the project moved forward with version 26. Although its deadline was set for August 11, there was no official update for a week until the community confirmed that it had been successfully deployed on Mainnet.
The upcoming update, version 27, will introduce more flexible and secure smart contract authentication capabilities, enabling advanced authorization methods for accounts and apps to conduct transactions. This update continues the project's work in incorporating newer protocol features and expanding its smart contract capabilities.
