Pi Network Token Surges on Upgrade Deadline and RoboPay Partnership
The Pi Network's native token has seen significant gains, jumping nearly 10% to $0.09355 and pushing its market capitalization above $1.03 billion. This outperforms the broader crypto market, which saw only small gains.
The surge in price is largely due to the upcoming Protocol v26 upgrade deadline on August 11. Pi Network has asked all Mainnet node operators to upgrade to this new protocol to remain connected to the network. The upgrade will improve contract safety, state management, interoperability, and cryptographic features.
Another factor supporting the rally is Pi Network's growing payment ecosystem through its partnership with RoboPay. This initiative plans to use AI agents and autonomous robots to process Pi payments and has strengthened expectations that Pi could expand beyond speculation and find more real-world payment use cases.
