Pi Network Update Scheduled for September 15
The Pi Network Core Team has announced that its next major protocol update will be deployed on September 15. This update, version 27, is expected to introduce more flexible and secure smart contract authentication capabilities.
Although the deadline for the previous major protocol update passed days ago, the Core Team behind the project finally announced its successful deployment. The team also provided details about the upcoming one.
The long process of upgrading the protocol began in February with version 19.6 and numerous others followed suit, including v20.2, which laid out the foundations for smart contract capabilities. However, there were some delays, as the team admitted, one of those being version 25, which was supposed to be implemented by July 22 but was significantly harder to deploy.
Version 26, scheduled to be deployed on August 11, has been successfully completed on Mainnet and will introduce more advanced ways for accounts and apps to authorize transactions. Version 27 will continue the project's work to incorporate newer protocol features and expand the network's smart contract capabilities.
