Pi Network Updates: PayPal Rumors Shattered, New Pricing Model Rolled Out
The Pi Network community was left disappointed after rumors emerged that PayPal might add PI to its Crypto Payment Ecosystem. However, the unofficial channel that broke the news later refuted its own statement, saying that PayPal is not currently listed as a KYB-verified business on Pi Network.
Despite this setback, the official X channel behind the project announced a major change for certain Pioneers that will take effect on August 24. The new approach will reflect more closely the standard prices and AI costs, which may vary depending on the resources required for each action. Creators whose apps showcase real utility and usage from users will remain eligible for the previous subsidized pricing.
The Pi Network team also introduced Pi Node version 0.6.2 in mid-August, which brought improvements to SoloHost, node connectivity, and the Pi Desktop user experience. The test validated the end-to-end flow of tasks across real devices, including the connection to the Pi coordinator.
