Pi Network's Protocol 27 Fails to Deliver on Promise
Pi Network has activated Protocol 27 on its mainnet, bringing smart contract authentication, an automated market maker decentralized exchange (DEX), and RPC server infrastructure to a chain that has never processed a single swap. The upgrade was highly anticipated, but it arrives on a network with several significant limitations.
Only 16.6 million of Pi's 60 million engaged Pioneers have completed migration to mainnet, leaving nearly three quarters of the claimed user base locked out of every Protocol 27 feature. This represents a 27.6% conversion rate, which is a crucial number in Pi's ecosystem.
The DEX module that Protocol 27 brings to mainnet has a testnet history but no proven demand on mainnet. No swap has ever been executed on Pi's production chain, and the token unlock schedule compounds this with a constant sell pressure of about $637,000 daily at current prices.
