$PI Price Surges as Pi Network Launches Protocol 27 on Testnet
The Pi Network has announced the launch of Protocol 27 on its Testnet, marking another significant milestone in the project's ongoing development. According to the Core Team, the Mainnet version of Protocol 27 is targeted for September 15, 2026.
Protocol 27 brings improved authentication capabilities to the network, allowing smart contracts to support more advanced permission rules. This means that a single wallet or app can require multiple approvals before a transaction is processed, which is particularly useful for shared funds, escrow, and conditional payments.
The upgrade also expands the capabilities of the network's chain and builds on previous protocols such as 23 and 25, which introduced Soroban-based tools and zero-knowledge features. Node operators must update to version 27.1 before September 15 or risk falling out of sync with Mainnet consensus.
The $PI coin price has reacted positively to the news, jumping over 14.5% to near $0.1054. However, some users have expressed skepticism about the long-term impact of these upgrades on the project's adoption and price.
