$PI Surges as Pi Network Unveils Decentralized Finance Infrastructure
The Pi Network has seen significant growth in recent years, starting as a mobile app that allowed users to mine cryptocurrency through simple daily actions. Launched in 2019, the network remained closed off from the general market until February 2025, when it opened its mainnet to the outside world and $PI started trading on exchanges for the first time.
Today, $PI is trading at around $0.09457, up 3.3% in the past day. Its market capitalization sits near $1.053 billion on a circulating supply of over 11.142 billion tokens. The price has been trending upward due to a fresh DeFi push by the Pi Core Team.
The team has activated a comprehensive DeFi infrastructure on its testnet, including a native swap interface and real-time market intelligence for test tokens. This pilot rollout features a test token called SLICE, which currently carries a test market capitalization of 27.75M Test-Pi on a circulating supply of 1.16B units.
The deployment lets users engage with liquidity pools and automated market maker mechanics directly inside the network's native wallet. This is a significant step for the project, as it signals Pi Network is laying groundwork for actual decentralized finance activity.
