U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro recently made headlines on Fox News for her comments about cryptocurrency, sparking controversy after President Donald Trump's family was granted conditional approval to operate a crypto business like a bank.
Pirro appeared on Fox News' Saturday in America with host Kayleigh McEnany to discuss the DOJ's crackdown on Chinese-run cyber scam centers operating in Southeast Asia. During the segment, she mentioned intervening in a romance scam involving a doctor who was about to sell his home and move away with his alleged scammer.
The attorney claimed that Americans 'don't understand cryptocurrency,' citing that scammers want their victims to think the investments are real because they don't grasp the concept. This statement comes after Trump's family reported earning over $1.4 billion from cryptocurrency-related business dealings last year, including $635 million in royalties from Celebration Coins, a company behind the $TRUMP meme coin.
Trump's financial report revealed that he also earned over $500 million in income from World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency firm founded by his sons and other associates. Despite this, the White House denied any conflict of interest, stating that Trump has placed his businesses in a trust managed by his sons.
