Pixelmon Abandons Game Development After Inconclusive Publisher Test
Pixelmon, a blockchain gaming project, has decided to shut down its game development operations after an inconclusive publisher test. The decision comes after a three-week test by external publishers failed to produce strong enough results to secure a long-term commercial offer.
The publishers asked Pixelmon to polish its games and run another test, but the company's leadership decided against continuing, citing more than two years of similar results.
Members of the gaming team have received notice, severance, and other applicable benefits. The games will be taken offline, and their systems will be dismantled.
A smaller group of senior and multidisciplinary staff will remain to explore non-gaming business models. Management is considering businesses that do not depend on game development, and the remaining team plans to discuss its approach to future pivots at a town hall meeting on Thursday.
