Plasma Blockchain Integrates USDC and EURC Stablecoins
Circle has integrated its USDC and EURC stablecoins onto the Plasma blockchain, along with the Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) and Bridge Kit. This marks a significant milestone for the Layer 1 network, which aims to streamline global payments and cross-chain stablecoin transfers.
Plasma is designed specifically for stablecoin use cases and has already established itself as a high-throughput blockchain with over $2 billion in total value locked (TVL) and 100+ DeFi integrations. The addition of USDC and EURC further strengthens its offering, particularly in Europe where euro-denominated stablecoin flows are gaining traction.
USDC and EURC are among the most trusted stablecoins, offering 1:1 redeemability for U.S. dollars and euros respectively, and regulatory compliance under frameworks like MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets). The integration of these assets positions Plasma as a viable solution for institutional-grade settlement and trading.
The Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) enables seamless movement of USDC across supported blockchains, allowing developers to integrate these features with minimal effort using Circle's Bridge Kit. This reduces the complexity of cross-chain stablecoin flows and opens up new use cases for businesses and developers.
