Pocket Bitcoin Security Breach Affects 5,411 Customers
Pocket Bitcoin, a Swiss-based cryptocurrency exchange, has revealed that its security breach in August affected 5,411 customers. An investigation by the company found two datasets were breached, but fortunately, core databases, customer Bitcoins, and private keys remained unaffected.
The first dataset contained bank transactions records for 5,120 users, while the second dataset consisted of communication records of an additional 291 users. The exposed information included names, addresses, transaction history, and some IBANs. For 291 users, there was a risk of compromising identity documents and funding information.
Pocket Bitcoin has notified affected customers about the breach and implemented new security measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. The company also informed the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner and the Liechtenstein Data Protection Authority about the breach.
