Pokémon Account Hacked for 30 Minutes Amid 30th Anniversary Celebrations

The official Pokémon account on X was briefly compromised for approximately 30 minutes on August 27, 2026. During this time, unauthorized posts promoting a cryptocurrency appeared on the account.

The posts referenced Pokémon's ongoing 30th anniversary celebrations and included a supposed Pokémon-themed memecoin with a linked cryptocurrency address.

Fans quickly raised concerns about the legitimacy of the posts, which were later confirmed by The Pokémon Company to be unauthorized.

In a statement, the company revealed that the account was temporarily compromised but has since been secured. They also stated that the suspicious posts have been removed and assured fans they are investigating the incident.
