Pokémon Social Media Account Hacked to Promote Cryptocurrency

The official Pokémon account on social media platform 'X' (formerly Twitter) was temporarily compromised, allowing hackers to post about a cryptocurrency.

The hack occurred just before the Pokémon World Championships and lasted for approximately half an hour.

During this time, followers may have seen posts promoting a cryptocurrency called the 'official Pokémon memecoin', but these were not created or approved by The Pokémon Company.

The company has since issued a statement acknowledging the incident and apologizing for any confusion caused.
