Pokémon Twitter Account Hacked to Promote Cryptocurrency

The official Pokémon X/Twitter account was compromised for approximately half an hour, allowing hackers to promote a cryptocurrency.

A post appeared on the account, advertising '$Pokemon, the official Pokemon memecoin' in celebration of the franchise's 30th anniversary.

Memecoins are often associated with hackers who gain access to high-profile social media accounts and encourage followers to buy the cryptocurrency.

The Pokémon Company quickly regained control of the account and deleted the post, stating that it was not created or approved by them.
