Poland's Crypto Bill Blocked Again: EU MiCA Rules Unclear
Poland's crypto bill has been blocked for the third time after President Karol Nawrocki vetoed it, and the Sejm failed to override the decision with a vote of 241-198. The required three-fifths majority was not met, leaving the country's implementation of EU MiCA rules unclear.
Nawrocki has expressed concerns that the bill would impose too much burden on cryptocurrency businesses, potentially driving them offshore. He also claims that only one out of 16 amendments suggested by his office was taken into account in the latest legislative round.
The bill aimed to put Poland's cryptocurrency market under KNF jurisdiction and help the country adopt the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation from the European Union. The President is in favor of a different bill that focuses on fraud and financial crime protection measures.
