Poland's Crypto Regulation Bill Blocked Again Amid Presidential Veto
Poland's crypto regulation bill has hit yet another hurdle after President Karol Nawrocki vetoed it for the third time. The lower house of parliament failed to override his veto on September 4, falling short by 25 votes. Lawmakers needed a three-fifths majority of the 442 lawmakers present to compel the president to sign the bill.
The legislation would have designated the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) as the country's crypto regulator and aligned domestic rules with MiCA, the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation. However, the president has expressed concerns that the government's version is too restrictive and could impose excessive burdens on Polish crypto companies.
Nawrocki has proposed a revised version of the bill that he claims would offer stronger fraud safeguards without the same costs. The latest defeat follows earlier failed override attempts in December 2025 and April 2026, leaving Poland effectively the only EU member state without a dedicated MiCA supervisor.
