Poland's Crypto Regulation Bill Fails to Overturn President's Veto
Poland's parliament has failed to overturn President Andrzej Duda's veto of a bill aimed at regulating digital assets, leaving crypto regulation in limbo and prolonging uncertainty over Poland's rules for the sector.
The lower house voted on the Digital Asset Market bill again after Duda vetoed it, but fell short of the majority required to override the veto. Out of 442 lawmakers present, 241 voted to override the veto, while 198 voted against it and three deliberately chose not to vote.
Duda had rejected the bill for a third time in June, arguing that while regulation is necessary, the government's proposal would stifle the crypto market and encourage Polish companies to relocate internationally without the necessary revisions.
