Polish Crypto Exchange Owner Scammed Out of Half Million Zloty
A Polish cryptocurrency exchange called Zondacrypto collapsed in spring 2026 after an investigation revealed that its owner, Przemysław Kral, had been scammed out of over half a million zloty by a retired anti-corruption officer named Artur Chodziński.
Chodziński, who worked for the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA), promised to arrange a buyer from Hungary for Zondacrypto in exchange for 15,000 euros per month. The deal was conditional on Fidesz staying in power after an election scheduled for April 12, 2026.
The investigation found that Chodziński had been lying about his ability to connect Kral with the Hungarian government and instead was just selling access to himself and his network. The exchange never received any investment from Hungary, and Fidesz lost the election, ending Viktor Orbán's 16-year rule.
