Polish Olympic Chief Arrested Over Collapsed Crypto Exchange
Radosław Piesiewicz, president of the Polish Olympic Committee, has been arrested and charged in connection with the collapsed crypto exchange Zondacrypto. Prosecutors are investigating payments and financial ties between Piesiewicz and Zondacrypto, which was a general sponsor of the Polish Olympic Committee under an agreement running from 2026 to 2028.
Piesiewicz has been charged with paid influence and favoring certain creditors over others, as investigators examine his withdrawal of exchange funds. The alleged €40,000 watch bought for Piesiewicz is also a matter of interest in the investigation.
Zondacrypto customers face estimated losses of at least 350 million zlotys ($94 million), but authorities have secured more than 100 million zlotys that could fund compensation claims. The case involves suspected fraud against Zondacrypto customers and possible money laundering connected to activity dating from 2022.
