Polish Olympic Chief Arrested Over Cryptocurrency Scandal

Share

The chief of the Polish Olympic Committee, Witold Bańka, has been arrested in connection with an ongoing investigation into cryptocurrency scams.

Bańka was taken into custody by law enforcement officials at his home on Wednesday, according to reports. The arrest is related to allegations that he had knowledge of or was involved in spreading false information about a cryptocurrency project.

The Financial Times reported earlier this year that Bańka had been accused of promoting a cryptocurrency scheme called 'FTX' (not to be confused with the well-known exchange FTX.com), which promised unusually high returns. However, it appears that the scheme was actually a scam designed to deceive investors.
