Polish Prosecutors Charge Fifth Suspect in $94 Million Zondacrypto Fraud Case

Poland's National Prosecutor's Office has charged Roman Ż., a fifth suspect in the $94 million Zondacrypto fraud case. He faces two counts of computer fraud and misappropriation of user funds, with prosecutors alleging he helped misappropriate 7.8 million złoty, or approximately $2.1 million.

Roman Ż. was detained on September 5 in the Silesia region after learning that he planned to fly to China for business. Prosecutors asked the court to keep him in custody due to concerns that he could obstruct the investigation, flee the country, or serve a sentence of up to 10 years.

The court granted the request, and during searches of Roman Ż.'s arrest site and registered address, investigators seized luxury watches and documents linked to the exchange. Four others have already been charged in connection with the Zondacrypto case, including Radosław P., president of the Polish Olympic Committee.
