Polkadot (DOT) Gives Back Governance-Driven Gains Amid Market Risk-Off

Polkadot (DOT) has retraced around 7% after experiencing a sharp rally driven by positive on-chain governance events. The coin's price action was dominated by a cluster of clearly positive, on-chain governance catalysts that pushed it up sharply before the current drop.

The Polkadot community recently voted on dotUSD, a new native, over-collateralized stablecoin intended to become the network's primary stable-value asset. A snapshot showed roughly 97.5% of votes in favor of the proposal, with millions of DOT supporting it and only tens of thousands opposed.

The recent price action in DOT has been characterized as a catalyst-driven run, rather than a reaction to a new DOT-specific negative event. The coin is currently giving back part of its recent governance-driven gains into a generally weak tape for alts.
