Polkadot Price Struggles Despite Strong Decentralization Profile
Polkadot's performance is at odds with its strong decentralization profile. According to Chainspect's Nakamoto Coefficient data, Polkadot leads the list of networks, ahead of TON and Avalanche. This suggests that Polkadot has a high level of resistance to coordinated manipulation.
The network has been experiencing positive ecosystem developments, including the success of the DOT DAO-backed Wish for Change 1926 proposal, which aims to burn 100% of DOT received from potential future JAMKB sales. Additionally, more than 900 million DOT has now been staked, with rewards offered at an average rate of 2.8%. The 21Shares Polkadot Staking ETF was also listed by DTCC under ticker TDOT.
However, the Polkadot price has weakened after reaching $1.02 on August 22 and is currently trading below its 50-day EMA at $0.8424. This leaves $0.71 as the next important support if selling continues. Kraken's decision to delist Hydration's HDX also adds pressure, despite the protocol appealing and seeking discussions with Kraken.
