Polkadot Product Devnet Update Spikes DOT Price

Polkadot's Product Devnet has been updated with new mobile and desktop apps, as well as stronger chat encryption and changes to its registries.

The update was published on September 8, 2026, and developers and users must take action before moving to the new build.

Mobile users must first write down their recovery phrase from the app settings, then clear their cloud backup, uninstall the old app, and reinstall the new version.

The update changes the chat system's encryption method from P-256 to X25519, meaning old encryption keys cannot be carried over, resulting in contacts and chat history starting fresh.
