Polygon Co-Founder Launches Stablecoin Campaign for Nepal Disaster Relief
Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal has launched a stablecoin donation campaign to support Nepal's disaster relief efforts following the devastating glacier collapse on August 26.
The initiative, which can be accessed through the website nepalrelief.org, allows donors worldwide to contribute directly to the government's recovery effort. According to the source, the program uses stablecoins as the best tool for quick aid disbursement.
Nailwal made the announcement on X on September 4, stating that donations will be received on-chain and converted to $USDC before being pooled at a public relief wallet on Ethereum or Polygon. The funds will then be sent to Nepal's official government fund, led by Scott DeLisi of Engage Nepal.
The campaign has already raised $168,176 in total, with contributions coming from various parties including Blockchain For Impact, which pledged $100,000. Donors can choose to remain anonymous or use Coinme for verification and identity confirmation.
