Polygon Co-Founder Launches Stablecoin Campaign for Nepal Disaster Relief
Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal has launched a stablecoin donation campaign to support Nepal's disaster relief efforts following the August 26 glacier collapse that claimed over 1,250 lives.
The Disaster Relief Fund was initiated by Nepal's Prime Minister, and donors worldwide can contribute via a direct on-chain route. Nailwal emphasized the importance of using stablecoins for quick aid disbursement in his X post announcement on September 4.
At the time of writing, the nepalrelief.org website had raised $168,176. Donations will be converted to USDC and pooled at a public relief wallet on Ethereum or Polygon before being sent to Nepal's official government fund.
This effort has garnered support from various parties, with Blockchain For Impact pledging $100,000. Donors can make anonymous contributions using any token on any chain or use Coinme for verified donations in the US.
