Polygon Co-Founder Rallies Crypto Community Behind Nepal Disaster Relief Fund
Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal has launched a disaster relief fund for Nepal, which was ravaged by a glacier collapse on August 26 that killed over 1,250 people and left thousands missing.
The Disaster Relief Fund was initiated by Nepal's Prime Minister, and Polygon is contributing to it through a stablecoin donation campaign. According to Nailwal, stablecoins are the best tool for providing quick aid in disaster situations.
Donations will be received on-chain and converted to USDC before being pooled at a public relief wallet on Ethereum or Polygon. Scott DeLisi of Engage Nepal will lead the effort to collect and account for the funds. Engage Nepal is a 501(c)(3) organization, and DeLisi is a former US Ambassador to Nepal.
The campaign has already received a pledge of $100,000 from Blockchain For Impact. Donors can make anonymous donations with any token on any chain or use Coinme to verify their identity and ensure the donation is next to their name.
