Polygon Discloses Security Flaws Fixed Via Recent Hard Forks
Polygon has disclosed multiple previously undisclosed security vulnerabilities that were resolved through two recent hard forks on its proof-of-stake network. The flaws affected block processing and the validation and consensus process, including denial-of-service issues, excessive resource consumption affecting the validator set, and problems related to checkpoint and milestone processing.
The Bor and Heimdall clients were impacted by these vulnerabilities, which were identified in the code. Polygon addressed the issues through the Austin and Kyoto hard forks, which have already been implemented on the network.
This disclosure highlights the importance of proactive vulnerability management in blockchain networks. While no exploits have been reported, the fixes were critical to maintaining network integrity.
