Polygon Labs Warns of Immediate Node Upgrade Required for Austin and Kyoto Activations

Polygon Labs has issued an advisory to all operators of Polygon PoS nodes running on outdated Bor or Heimdall binaries. The warning is not speculative, but rather a confirmation that both activation heights, Austin and Kyoto, have already been activated on mainnet.

The activation of Austin occurred at block 91,949,700, while Kyoto switched on at Heimdall height 51,533,000, as stated in Polygon's own release notice dated August 18. A simple restart will not suffice; nodes must be upgraded to the latest version to track the canonical chain.

The Austin activation addressed two resource-exhaustion issues: one concerning state-sync events generated by L1-to-L2 bridge deposits and another related to a parallel-execution hint provided by block producers. Kyoto's highest-severity fix involved preventing cheap transactions from forcing every validator into heavy decoding work.
