Polygon Powers Loyalty Points Conversion to Regulated Yen Stablecoin
Kansai Electric Power's subsidiary MOACT has integrated its rewards app with Polygon, allowing users to convert loyalty points into JPYC, a regulated yen-pegged stablecoin. The feature was enabled on July 30, after earlier collaboration between HashPort and MOACT in 2026.
MOACT users can now swap their earned NORM Points for JPYC through the HashPort Wallet, which supports JPYC handling. This integration completes a pipeline from real-world activity to on-chain assets.
JPYC is Japan's first regulated yen stablecoin, launched in 2025 under the Payment Services Act. Polygon has become the dominant chain for JPYC activity, with cumulative transfers exceeding $265 million since April 2026.
The concentration of JPYC holders in the HashPort Wallet raises both opportunities and risks. If HashPort maintains its position as the JPYC gateway, it could become critical infrastructure in Japan's stablecoin ecosystem. However, any disruption to HashPort's operations may ripple through the entire user base.
