Pons Feasts on Record Crypto Fees as Robinhood Subsidy Looms
Pons (PONS) has been making waves in the crypto world since its launch on Robinhood Chain, pulling in $11.4 million in fees on September 5 alone, the largest daily fees in all of crypto.
The platform's success can be attributed to its partnership with Robinhood Markets, which launched its new blockchain in early July. Pons has become the largest and busiest launchpad in Robinhood Chain's ecosystem, giving it a significant tailwind from the future growth of the network.
But is PONS a screaming buy? Not so fast. While the platform has burned nearly a third of its supply, with 288 million tokens taken out of circulation by September 3, this scarcity may not be enough to guarantee its value.
The subsidy provided by Robinhood will end on September 29, which could lead to decreased launch volume and fewer fees for Pons. Additionally, the platform is still new and lacks a use history, making it difficult to confidently invest in advance of the subsidy's expiry or potential competitors.
