Pons Surpasses Pump.fun in Daily Fees, But Risks Abound
The crypto market has seen the rise of launchpad projects that enable anyone to mint and trade tokens quickly. Pump.fun, on Solana, and Pons, on the Robinhood Chain, are two prominent players in this space. Pons has been generating more daily fees than Pump.fun since August 29, but its revenue may be affected by a transaction cost subsidy expiring soon.
Pump.fun launched in mid-2025 and was instrumental in several meme coin manias on Solana. In contrast, the Robinhood Chain only opened for business on July 1, with Pons launching shortly after. This positioning puts Pons favorably ahead of Pump.fun initially.
During the 30-day period ending September 10, data from DefiLlama indicates that Pons collected $96.9 million in fees, while Pump.fun's parent protocol gathered $151.9 million. However, when focusing on launchpad operations alone, Pump.fun collected $46.3 million.
Pons retains only 9% of its fees, sending the rest to holders and other entities, whereas Pump.fun retains a larger portion, distributing 17% of its fees to holders. Despite this difference in revenue distribution, both projects are generating significant income from their launchpad operations.
