Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy has set an exit target of $1.40 for his XRP holdings, citing a pressing need for cash to participate in upcoming horse auctions.

In a recent social media post, Portnoy explained that he cannot afford to wait for the price to reach its historic highs, which some crypto enthusiasts believe could happen soon.

At the time of writing, XRP is trading at $1.10, attempting to stabilize after a recent sell-off. Portnoy's target coincides with the 200-day moving average on the XRP/USD chart, which has consistently held back price movements throughout the year.

With the Saratoga Sales and Cleveland thoroughbred horse auctions approaching in August, Portnoy is counting on a quick market impulse to boost his cryptocurrency portfolio. The investor acknowledged that he had previously taken significant losses, but now needs to take profits quickly to meet his financial obligations.
