PowerCompute Adds $3.765M to Debt Following Bitcoin Collar Reset
PowerCompute, a Bitcoin treasury and mining company, has taken on additional debt after an early reset of its Bitcoin collar. The company added $3.765 million to its existing debt when it terminated its prior collateral agreement with Arch Lending. This decision was made after PowerCompute ended the original loan 22 days into its term at a reference price of $78,500.
The new borrowing arrangement maintains its secured status by 307 BTC and now carries an annual interest rate of 6.5%, up from 2%. The company's Aug. 28 filing revealed a replacement 30-day collar balance totaling $21,892,131.88 with Arch Lending. This amount is significantly higher than the original loan balance of $18,127,131.88.
The decision to add the unwind cost to the principal balance has led some to question the company's financial management strategies. The prior collar began Aug. 3 and was due to reset Sept. 2 before PowerCompute ended it on Aug. 25. This move may have implications for the company's future borrowing capabilities and overall financial health.
