Freedom Factory has released what it calls the world's first quantum-resistant hardware wallet, dubbed PQ1. This device is notable not only for its post-quantum cryptography but also for its integration with AI models like ChatGPT and Claude to verify the firmware.

The PQ1 uses the SPHINCS+ signature algorithm, which has been recognized by NIST as a post-quantum cryptographic standard. Unlike many other wallets that rely on elliptic curve cryptography, the PQ1 does not have an ECDSA fallback, making it fully committed to post-quantum security.

The device features dual secure elements rated EAL6+, a level that surpasses most hardware wallets on the market, which typically use EAL5+ elements. It also employs seed XOR-splitting to protect against key exposure in case of chip compromise.

The PQ1 is priced at $179 and supports Ethereum and EVM-compatible chains through ERC-4337. However, it does not support Bitcoin due to limitations on the Bitcoin ecosystem's adoption of post-quantum signature schemes.
