ProCap Financial Buys Back Shares with Bitcoin Proceeds

Nasdaq-listed ProCap Financial has found an unusual way to give its shareholders more exposure to Bitcoin. The company sold about 50 BTC and used the proceeds to repurchase over 2% of its common stock at a significant discount.

As shares traded roughly 40% below net asset value, selling some Bitcoin actually increased the number of coins each share represents. ProCap's NAV is $3.71 per share, while BRR is trading at $2.31, a discount of around 38%.

The company's chairman and CEO Anthony Pompliano said they intend to continue exploiting this gap between market price and underlying asset value.

By repurchasing shares below NAV, ProCap has retired about 10% of its outstanding shares since the buyback program began. The strategy reverses the usual approach used by Bitcoin treasury companies, which often issue stock when shares trade at a premium and use the proceeds to accumulate more Bitcoin.
