ProCap Financial Cuts Holdings with Another Round of Discounted Share Buys
ProCap Financial has continued its strategy of buying back shares at a discount by selling 50 BTC, reducing its total holdings to approximately 5,305 BTC. This transaction represents more than 2% of the company's outstanding shares and was executed at a 40% discount to net asset value (NAV). The company now holds one of the largest publicly traded Bitcoin treasuries on the Nasdaq.
The share buyback program has been in place since December 2025, with a budget of up to $100 million. ProCap's board-approved plan aims to increase shareholder value by acquiring more shares at a discount. This strategy is not new to the company, as it previously executed a similar transaction in June 2026, selling roughly 52 BTC to fund a repurchase of 2 million shares at an even steeper discount of approximately 50% to NAV.
The latest buyback has reduced ProCap's total Bitcoin holdings but increased the value backing each remaining share. The company's shares outstanding now sit at 86,764,282, with a NAV per share of roughly $3.71 as of September 2, 2026. Anthony Pompliano founded ProCap Financial, which went public in 2025 through a SPAC merger and has since built a significant Bitcoin treasury.
