ProCap Sells Bitcoin to Fund Share Buybacks Amid Price Disparity
ProCap Financial has sold approximately 50 Bitcoin to fund a share buyback program, which accounts for over 2% of its outstanding stock. The sale reduced ProCap's Bitcoin holdings to about 5,305 BTC.
The company's shares are trading around 40% below the value of its Bitcoin holdings, prompting ProCap to use share buybacks as a strategy when its stock trades significantly below net asset value (NAV). This is not the first time ProCap has employed this tactic; it launched its formal share repurchase program in December 2025.
ProCap's valuation remains closely tied to the value of its Bitcoin holdings, which recently climbed above $81,200 following a strong August. The company aims to continue reviewing buybacks when its stock trades below NAV and has used this strategy to repurchase shares worth about 10% of its outstanding stock so far.
