Profound Medical's TULSA Procedure Outperforms Robotic Surgery on Key Quality-of-Life Measures
Profound Medical Corp.'s (PRN.TO) stock jumped 8.18% to C$10.45 after the release of new clinical trial data showing improved quality-of-life outcomes with its TULSA Procedure.
The study, part of the ongoing CAPTAIN trial, compared whole-gland TULSA with robotic radical prostatectomy in men with localized intermediate-risk prostate cancer. The results showed that the TULSA Procedure preserved penile length better than surgery, with a median change of 0 centimeters one month after treatment.
Robotic radical prostatectomy resulted in a median penile length reduction of 0.65 centimeters, according to the study. This finding adds to previous evidence supporting improved quality-of-life outcomes following treatment with TULSA.
