Provably Fair Gaming: A Cryptographic Method to Verify Game Results
Provably fair gaming is a cryptographic method used in on-chain gaming to prove that game results were not tampered with. The system originated in crypto gambling and has since been adopted by platforms such as Toshi.bet for their in-house games.
The concept of provably fair verification involves three inputs: a server seed, client seed, and nonce. These inputs allow players to independently recompute and verify the outcome after a round has finished.
Toshi.bet applies this system across its original games, known as Toshi's Dojo, which are offered alongside conventional third-party content. However, provably fair verification does not eliminate the house edge or make a game profitable for the player.
