Pump.fun Surges on Custom Pairs Launch and Buyback Commitment
The cryptocurrency Pump.fun (PUMP) has seen an impressive 8.71% surge in value over the last ~39 hours, driven by a combination of positive catalysts and visible buybacks.
The key factor behind this increase is the launch of Pump.fun's new 'Custom Pairs' feature, which allows creators to launch tokens paired with tokenized stocks, BTC, ETH, metals, and other assets. Half of the revenue from these new pairs will be committed to a PUMP buyback and burn contract over the next year.
This move is significant as it expands Pump.fun's addressable volume and hard wires more fee flow into PUMP buybacks. The launch has also been accompanied by strong protocol usage and Solana records, with Solana hitting a record 263,000 SPL tokens issued in a single day, with Pump.fun responsible for 34,184 of 40,360 launchpad tokens.
The move is not just about the current price surge but also about the long-term fundamentals of PUMP. As noted by The Defiant and Bitcoin.com, Custom Pairs are essentially 93 new quote assets where trading fees are split, with 50% of Custom Pair revenue routed to PUMP buybacks and burns.
