PYTH Price Surges on Bullish Sentiment, But Short Takeover Risks Loom
Pyth Network's [PYTH] price has surged by double-digit percentages in recent days, marking a shift from its previous bearish trend. According to CoinMarketCap, the asset's sentiment is strong, with a community sentiment reading of +4.64 over the past 24 hours, indicating optimism.
Despite this bullish sentiment, several indicators suggest that a short takeover could be possible, keeping a price decline on the table. The number of PYTH holders has declined by more than 3,000 since January and around 600 in the past 30 days, which usually drags down prices.
However, the funding rate has climbed to 0.0054%, confirming that longs control most of the market activity. Additionally, open interest has surged 7.8% to $28.5 million, backed by a $2.23 million inflow, indicating stronger interest from traders positioning to go long on PYTH.
A liquidation heatmap shows a concentration of unfilled buy orders below the current price, which could pull the price down if filled. Nevertheless, as long as sentiment remains bullish without excessive leverage, PYTH should sustain its upward push.
