PYUSD Wallet Growth Hits Four-Month High Amid Regulatory Uncertainty
PayPal's PYUSD stablecoin has experienced its strongest daily network expansion in four months, with 863 new wallets added to its network in a single day. This growth comes despite the market cap of PYUSD remaining 24% lower than its late-May levels, indicating that wallet growth is outpacing new supply.
The pattern suggests that existing or returning users are re-engaging with PYUSD before new liquidity flows back into the stablecoin. Santiment characterized this trend as a healthier signal than passive supply growth alone, where market cap might swell without a corresponding increase in active users.
PayPal has been quietly expanding PYUSD's reach across 70 markets and has enabled U.S. merchants to accept crypto payments settled in PYUSD. The stablecoin also gained native issuance on Polygon in July and Coinbase's zero-fee trading support for PYUSD in the past. However, regulatory pressure around a US stablecoin bill and banking pushback creates material uncertainty for future adoption and price.
The next signal is whether PYUSD's market cap begins to climb in tandem with wallet activity or if the network growth stalls without accompanying supply expansion.
