QQQ Dumps $11B in August as Bitcoin ETFs See $2B Influx
The Invesco QQQ Trust, an ETF tracking the NASDAQ 100 index, experienced significant outflows in August 2026. The fund lost approximately $10.9 billion in net assets over the month, a notable decline from its usual holdings of between $450 billion and $488 billion.
August 3 saw a dramatic single-day outflow of $5.71 billion, followed by an influx of nearly $5 billion on August 5. Despite this rebound, QQQ finished the month with substantial net outflows.
This trend is not isolated to August; June 2026 also witnessed $5.061 billion in net outflows from the fund, with July providing a temporary reprieve through positive inflows.
Bitcoin ETFs fared better, attracting about $1.92 billion in inflows during the same period. However, this figure is somewhat misleading as it represents a net inflow over a five-day window in mid-August, rather than a sustained trend.
