Quantum Readiness Bill Revives Concerns Over Crypto Security
Two U.S. senators have introduced legislation aimed at accelerating the Pentagon's adoption of quantum sensing technology, which has implications for cryptocurrency security.
The National Quantum Readiness Act would require the Defense Department to identify priority projects within 60 days and deploy them by Sept. 30, 2028.
The bill does not target cryptocurrencies directly but comes as governments prepare for the possibility that quantum computers could challenge some encryption methods.
Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum rely on public-key cryptography to authorize transactions and protect user funds, which could be vulnerable to attacks from future quantum computers.
