Quantum-Secure Bitcoin Transaction Executed on Mainnet
A quantum-resistant Bitcoin transaction has been successfully executed on the mainnet using a method developed by StarkWare researcher Avihu Levy.
The method, called Quantum-Safe Bitcoin (QSB), uses signature grinding to limit exposure of public-key material while transactions wait in the Bitcoin mempool. This adds an extra layer of security against quantum attacks without changing Bitcoin's existing cryptography.
The transaction was submitted directly to MARA's Slipstream service because Bitcoin nodes do not currently relay non-standard formats, and Levy continues to support a protocol-level upgrade through a soft fork.
StarkWare's CEO Eli Ben-Sasson believes that this breakthrough is an important psychological reassurance for the asset, showing that there are 'lifeboats' to save Bitcoin from being 'sunk' by quantum computers. He remains a strong advocate for a solution on a protocol level but sees value in every step towards preparation and momentum towards a soft fork.
