Quantum Solutions Taps Cryptocurrency Treasuries to Fuel AI Data Centers
Tokyo-listed Quantum Solutions has tapped its cryptocurrency treasuries to fund its AI data center business. The company sold 1,000 Ethereum (ETH) tokens for $1.9 million on July 30 at a price of $1,903 per token. This disposal generated $1.903 million after fees, but the sale price was 47% below the average acquisition cost of $3,595.02 reported in June.
Quantum's board raised its cumulative sale limit to 4,375 ETH from 1,875 ETH through October 30, leaving it authorized to sell another 2,471 ETH. This would mean disposing of nearly 66% of the holdings it reported in June. The company plans to use the proceeds for data center deposits, GPU servers, networking equipment and working capital.
In related news, Hyperscale Data, a NYSE American-listed firm, monetized about 100 Bitcoin (BTC) and established a bitcoin-backed credit facility carrying an expected variable interest rate of 4.5% to 5%. The company also opened a bitcoin-backed credit line for its Michigan AI data center.
