Manchester police have praised the staff at Varney Street Quick Shop for their vigilance in protecting local senior citizens from falling victim to cryptocurrency scams.
According to authorities, on three separate occasions, elderly residents of Manchester entered the shop with cash they intended to deposit into a crypto ATM. However, employees recognized the signs of a scam and intervened, warning the customers and contacting police before any funds were lost.
The combined total of money that could have been stolen from these individuals is estimated at $17,000.
