Rain Unveils Agentic Payments Alliance with Industry Heavyweights
Rain has launched the Agentic Payments Alliance, a coalition of over 25 companies from payments, financial services, and digital assets. The alliance includes founding members Visa, Mastercard, Fiserv, Circle, Solana, and Remitly, among others.
The group will work collectively to establish standards for agent-led transactions, which McKinsey predicts could reach $3 trillion to $5 trillion by 2030. Rain's CEO Farooq Malik emphasized the importance of collaboration in shaping the rules for agentic commerce, saying 'No single company should get to decide how agents transact on someone's behalf.'
The alliance will focus on shared research and frameworks, testing emerging standards for agent identity and authorisation, and advocating on regulatory questions tied to agent-led transactions. Rain has developed tools for this area, including an Agent Control Layer and Scoped Cards, which give agents restricted, monitored payment credentials.
